“Investing in real estate when the dollar is at par and you’re getting real estate values that are quite depressed does make a lot of sense from the outset, but you have to dig into it a little deeper to make sure that it’s right for you,” says Paul Bains, a cross-border financial planner and managing director of Pacifica Partners, a firm specializing in cross-border portfolio management.
